MCCU's Student-Run Branch: Financial Resources for the Students of Marshall High School

Written by guest bloggers and MCCU Student-Run Branch Tellers, Grey Gillett and Taylor Treat.

How often do you have to rush to your credit union, whether on your lunch break or in the small window of time after work that they are still open? Wouldn’t it be nice if your credit union came to you, if you could cash a check, make a withdrawal or even pay your mortgage right from the place where you would be anyway? That is the reality for the fortunate students of Marshall High School.

Open since the fall of 2012, the MHS Student-Run Branch (SRB) is an extension of MCCU and is open once a week on Fridays in the school cafeteria during lunch. This is a great opportunity for students who are members of MCCU to do transactions that they would otherwise have had to make a trip to the credit union to do. This includes deposits and withdrawals, check cashings, transfers, loan payments and more! In addition, the SRB often does promotions such as money giveaways, free items, and even free Louie’s cookies with any transaction over five dollars!
The Student-Run Branch is just one of the many services Marshall Community Credit Union offers to put our members first and encourage financial literacy for people of all ages.
